Fillets are smaller frames inside of the mat, which repeats the frame...drawing your eye inward toward the art.
This option was designed using a 3" fabric mat and a fillet (frame within a frame) co-ordinating with the outside moulding.
This option was designed using a triple-mat combination having 3 1/2" at top and sides and a 5" bottom-weight, which can visually balance certain pieces of art. Both the top and bottom mats are the same color with the middle mat being an accent color.
This is a triple-matted, 3 1/2" top and sides with a 4 1/2" bottom weight, design having a fabric top mat. The middle and bottom accent-color paper mats enhance the snow scene.
This is a single-mat design with 3 1/2" top and sides and a 4" bottom weight. The white mat was chosen to make the colors in the artwork "pop".
This triple-mat design with 3 3/4" top & sides and 4 3/4" weighted bottom blends well with the artwork, and the moulding tends to give an antique look to the piece.
This is a single-mat with a fillet having 3" top & sides and 4" weighted bottom. The dark mat enhances the shadowing, making it more prominent.

'Elm Place' is designed in two entirely different options, yet both are appropriate for the image. Artwork is a very personal example of a one's taste & style, and should be framed to suit you.
'October 29th' is framed in both light and dark color schemes, to show how differently the same piece can look just by changing mats and moulding. Update your tired-looking artwork and pictures for a fresh appearance.
'Apples' is framed in a light color scheme to let the artwork continue flowing outward, where the dark matting contains the piece and keeps the eyes focused towards the center. Both options are very acceptable. Regardless of framing options chosen, quality and workmanship is identical and of the highest standard.
