| Colonel John L. Bromley Jan. 8th,1821 - Nov. 7th,1909 served in the War with Mexico (1846 - 1848) as an orderly Sergeant of Company G, 14th U.S. Infantry and was one of the last survivors of the war with Santa Anna. Framed original oil on canvas 29" x 34". Louis Lussier, 1877 artist. Born in Canada Oct. 22nd, 1832, Louis Lussier was active in Illinois in the 1850's. Following the Civil War, he was a resident of Peoria (1865-68) and Chicago (1870-74). After that time he moved to San Francisco where he had furthered his art study at the School of Design. He maintained studios in Oakland (1875-77) and shared a portrait studio in San Jose with Andrew Putnam Hill (1877-80) and in San Francisco (1880-1884). He died in Oakland, CA on Dec. 27, 1884 from meningitis. Comes with an old 35-page family scrapbook pertaining to the life of Bromley. $2600.00 |
